After pursuing a social science-related career for some years, I had an epiphany. Having long put aside my interest in the visual arts (as far as creating original artwork was concerned), I realized that deep down I was missing something. I wanted to be creative and do something artistic. It could be a hobby, or a job, or something else. The important thing was that I could indulge my interest.
Thus I began to learn how to use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom so that I could edit photographs and make digital graphics. As a tandem project I studied the principles of design and color theory. And lastly, I learned how to code a websites.
I am mostly self-taught in all of these areas. My process was to learn through a wide variety of video and written tutorials, books, and articles. In addition, I took an array of online classes and participated in a number of webinars over time.
The other side of catching the digital arts bug was that I wanted to also improve my drawing skills. At first I simply made doodles and sketches, but then I found Zentangle®. In November 2014 I took a basic class with Lee Darter, Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) and loved it. It is both relaxing and fun to draw tangles, and I have been happily tangling ever since. Lest there be any question, I am not a CZT.
To sum up, this blog will be an outlet for me to share my artistic efforts. It will also be a place where I can share helpful resources and tips that I have learned. My husband always tells me to follow my muse (love those Greek muses of the arts and creativity), and so I am following my artistic muse in establishing this blog.
