This week’s Diva Challenge #314 is another Use My Tangle (UMT) challenge. For this one we are asked to create a tile using Scallamp by Sarah Uram, CZT. A step out is available here on Sarah’s blog Zen and Zin.
Scallamp reminds me of shallots for some reason. Anyway, I had a little trouble with this new tangle. The main problem was in keeping the wavy parts reasonably symmetrical. I also think the ends are too wide on the central tangle. The lines should be closer together, and I didn’t do the c-curves correctly. But overall I think my first attempt at Scallamp looks pretty good. I will have to practice, practice, practice! Thanks to the Diva for another good challenge.
Laura dedicated her tangle from this week’s challenge to Lily of Lily’s Tangles. My heart goes out to Lily and her family at this very difficult time.
Lastly I thought I’d share another tangle that I did earlier this week. I think of it as a field of zen wildflowers. Tangles included are Cat-Kin, Hollyhock, Pystyl, Sooflowers, Morning Glories, and Zinger.
I think it looks great! Thanks for trying my tangle. I like to play with the wavey curves, making them asymmetrical or super bulbous. That’s the joy in Zentangle overall, I think 😀 I can’t wait to see what you do with it in the future!
Thanks very much Sarah, and thank you for Scallamp! I had fun with it, and love to learn how to draw new tangles. You are certainly right about the joy in Zentangle. 😀 I’ll be sure to share my next Scallamp tile with you!
Great job! They do look like shallots!!
Thank you Lorna!

Great diva challenge tile and I love your pretty tile of wildflowers!
Thanks so much Kate! The wildflowers tile was really sort of a warm up for a larger watercolor and ink piece that I have planned. 🙂
Your Scallamps are created beautifully, and I love your little selection of wildflowers!
Jean, thanks very much!
